Party, Party, Party!!!!

Mia's had a white cake with strawberries and Brandon had a marble cake.

We celebrated Brandon's 9th Birthday and Mia's 7th Birthday with a big bounce house party at BounceU in Huntington Beach on Friday night.  It was a success.  The kids spent an hour and fifteen minutes running around like crazy.  They bounced in the multiple jumpers, played a very hardcore dodgeball game, climbed a spider like netting maze, played some air baseball and air hockey.  They also played basketball and a fun game where they tried to knock each other down with a super giant foam ball on pendulum.  The kids spent the first part in a well lit room with several bouncers before they went to experience "cosmic" bounce in another room.  Cosmic bounce is the new thing.  Basically, the room is dark and there are multi colored lights flashing. There are lights that look like stars in the sky. Each kid wore a glow in the dark necklace.  The kids absolutely LOVED it. Parents? Not so much.  I got a headache in that room and was quite relieved when the time was up.

By the time the jumping ceased, we had 20 (Mia had 7 friends and Brandon had 13) very sweaty and very hungry kids ready to devour piza and cake.

What's a party without lots of friends....

I think, all in all, the party was a sucess.  It was a little disappointing that Lance could not make the party.  He received a call early in the morning from a neighbor at the boat dock in San Diego warning him that the boat lines were not secure so poor Lance had to drive down to San Diego to make sure everything was ok.  We had a bad storm and heavy rains this weekend. I know he felt bad about missing the party, but it was circumstances beyond our control.

When the kids returned home, we opened presents.  All I can say is they are spoiled.  Barbies, dolls, clothes, and an Amazon kindle were Mia's gifts.  Brandon received gift cards, skylanders, beach towel, and some rubber band bracelets that are so popular with grade school kids now.  His best gift though was a desk from us.  Mia has been wanting a kindle for months, but we were very reluctant because we didn't think she was mature enough for it, but we relented on the condition that we are the "keepers" of her kindle.  She also had been saving her money and contributed $130 dollars towards it.

I love seeing my kids happy.  Their smiles and laughter give me so much joy. One successful birthday party? Check.  Until next year now....
