Huntington Harbor Christmas Light Tour

We are a new family establishing our own new traditions, and it has now officially become a tradition.  Every year since we became a family, we have gone on a tour of the Christmas lights in some of the harbors in Southern California.   The first two years, we went on a chartered tour—once to Huntington Harbor and once to Newport Beach bay.  We all agreed that the Huntington Harbor houses’ are much more spectacularly decorated.  This year, we opted to do something different.  Instead of taking a chartered tour, we took our own little 16-ft dinghy, and it was probably one of the best times!  We dressed warmly. We brought hot chocolate and tea.  We carried blankets and spent a little over an hour gazing in awe at all the Christmas decorations.  We also sang Christmas carols off tune and completely screwed up the lyrics in the process.

We arrived early, which was perfect because by the time we were getting out of the dock, it began to get crowded.

I sometimes fantasize about owning one of those houses and how incredible it would be to have our boat in our backyard.  Lance could just take a few steps to work on the boat.  Ah, a dream!!!

There is something magical about Christmas lights and being on the boat, cruising through the harbor added a sense of serenity to that magic.  I cannot wait to do it again next year.
